We are an innovative Canadian company based out of Sydney, Nova Scotia, specializing in the creation of web-based solutions to maximize efficiency throughout the music industry. We possess a wealth of diverse knowledge of the music industry, through previous experience as artists, artist managers, agents, record label owners, producers and festival directors. The Marcato Suite is built by music people, for music people.

Our two flagship applications, Marcato Musician & Marcato Festival, have recently launched from beta and are currently being used by over 2000 users, including the Luminato Festival of Arts & Creativity, Celtic Colours International Festival, Canada Games, Blue Rodeo, Joel Plaskett, Gordie Sampson, and more.



Darren Gallop   Founder & CEO


Darren has worked in the music industry for over ten years - as performer, road manager, booking agent, artist manager and recording engineer. Gallop's previous projects include a recording studio, a touring educational African music presentation (with over 400 shows across Canada), a music PR and booking agency and an independent record label.


Morgan Currie   Co-Founder & CTO


After years of programming in the back of the tour van, Morgan finally settled down in a stationary office when he joined the Marcato team. A self-taught computer programmer and graphic designer with 10 years professional experience, Morgan spends his days talking up Ruby on Rails, and moonlights as the violin player in the acclaimed Tom Fun Orchestra.


Dan Hooper   Lead Developer & Project Manager


The son of a software developer and member of a musical family, Dan Hooper proved to be the ideal fit for Marcato's development team. With a background in Engineering and Computer Science at Cape Breton University and Memorial University of Newfoundland, Dan quickly adapted to web development with Ruby on Rails and soon became an indispensable asset for Marcato. Since he started in January 2009, Dan has progressed from a fledgeling coder to senior developer, now overseeing a team of three developers himself.


Adam Black   Developer


A self-taught computer programmer, Adam had been making web applications for almost a decade before he was formally educated. After studying Computer Science at both Cape Breton University and Memorial University of Newfoundland, Adam moved back to Sydney and quickly found a home at Marcato Digital Solutions. Adam has experience working with PHP, Python, and the Ruby on Rails framework. He is also an excellent front-end developer, well-versed in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. When he isn't programming, Adam manages to get some exercise as a pick-up hockey goaltender.
